The Mahindra BE 6 Sporteq is a midsize electric SUV priced from ₹19.45 lakh to ₹26.95 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes with the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, Tata Sierra EV, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and MG ZS EV. The BE 6 Sporteq is available with a battery-as-a-service (BaaS) option, bringing the starting price down to ₹11.45 lakh (ex-showroom), with a battery subscription fee of ₹3.75 per km.

 

It is available in five trims: One, Two, Three, Three+ and Four, with the Sporteq Launch Edition and Formula E Freedom Edition offered as special editions above these.

 

The BE 6 Sporteq is available with three battery options: 59kWh, 70kWh and 79kWh, all paired with a single electric motor driving the rear wheels. The 59kWh version produces 231hp and has a claimed range of 548km, while the 70kWh version produces 245hp and offers 651km of range. The 79kWh version is the most powerful, producing 286hp with a claimed range of 683km. Torque is rated at 380Nm across all three versions.

 

The batteries support 20-80 percent DC fast charging in under 20 minutes, with charging capacities of 140kW, 160kW, and 180kW, respectively. The battery gets a lifetime warranty for the first registered owner, or 10 years/2 lakh km if ownership changes.

Key Highlights of the Mahindra BE 6 Sporteq

  • The BE 6 Sporteq is built on Mahindra’s INGLO platform and is available only with a single-motor RWD setup.
  • The cabin can feature up to three connected screens, a panoramic glass roof, wireless charging, ventilated seats and a 540-degree camera system.
  • It offers 455 litres of boot space and a 45-litre frunk.
  • DC fast-charging speeds vary by battery pack, ranging from 140kW to 180kW. AC charging options include 7.2kW and 11.2kW wallbox chargers.
  • The SUV measures 4,371mm long, 1,907mm wide and 1,627mm tall, with a 2,775mm wheelbase. It seats five.
  • Safety features include Level 2+ ADAS, six airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, electronic stability control and a 540-degree camera system.
  • It has received a 5-star Bharat NCAP crash safety rating.
  • The 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system supports Dolby Atmos. Mahindra claims that the BE 6 Sporteq is also the first EV in India to offer both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

 

Mahindra BE 6 Sporteq

Launched on August 15, 2026, the BE 6 gets its biggest cabin update yet with the new ‘Sporteq’ moniker. It features a redesigned dashboard with three 12.3-inch screens, including a dedicated display for the front passenger. Most variants also get a new straight-shaped instrument panel, replacing the earlier halo-style design. The Sporteq introduces a Racing Tan interior theme and new exterior colours, including Ruby Velvet and the exclusive matte Graphite Storm on the top-spec Launch Edition. It also gets new ‘TEQ’ software features such as AI voice assistance, driver profiles and personalised taillight illumination.

Mahindra BE 6 Formula E Freedom Edition

Also launched on August 15, the Formula E Freedom Edition gets tricolour decals on the front bumper and rear spoiler. Unlike the previous Formula E edition, which featured a revised front and rear fascia with round LED headlights and bar-less taillights, the 2026 edition retains the standard model’s projector LED headlights with C-shaped DRLs, dual-tone alloy wheels and C-shaped LED taillights. Inside, it gets an orange-and-black cabin theme with a Freedom badge on the centre console.

The BE 6 Sporteq is available in five core trims: One, Two, Three, Three+ and Four, along with the top-spec Launch Edition and Formula E Freedom Edition, offered in FE and FE Four variants. The One trim gets the Halo instrument panel with a dual-screen setup, while Two, Three, Three+ and Four feature the newer Straight instrument panel with three screens.

 

One: The base trim gets dual 12.3-inch screens, six airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, ESP, a rear-view camera with parking sensors, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, push-button start, tilt-and-telescopic steering, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and cruise control. Six airbags are standard from the base trim.

 

Two: Adds a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos, NFC digital key support, leatherette-wrapped dashboard and door trims, dual-zone climate control, power-folding ORVMs, an auto-dimming IRVM and a wireless phone charger.

 

Three: Adds the triple-screen dashboard and panoramic sunroof, along with sequential turn indicators, a six-way powered driver’s seat with memory, ventilated front seats and acoustic laminated door glass.

 

Three+: Adds Level-2 ADAS with a radar and camera, front fog lamps, passive keyless entry, a power tailgate with gesture control, an additional wireless phone charger and personalised tailgate messaging.

 

Four/Launch Edition: The flagship trim adds adaptive suspension, Google Gemini assistance, a head-up display, auto-parking assist, Level 2+ ADAS, a knee airbag and approach unlock with walk-away lock. The Launch Edition gets this feature set along with the exclusive Graphite Storm exterior and Racing Tan interior.

 

FE Four: The top Formula E Freedom Edition trim gets the Four trim’s features but retains the Halo instrument panel and dual-screen layout. It also adds a virtual engine sound switch.
